• Here's a photo I took on the first trial run after leaving the dry-dock at Portsmouth, VA. in early 1959.

  The two guys in front I remember, but can't recall their names. The guy behind them I do remember. His name is David Drapela, RDSN, I still have one of his business cards; 'David Draplela and His Orchids, Houston's Outstanding Combo'. He sang and played the guitar, an Elvis look alike type. He married a girl from Suffolk, VA., where we hung out all the time.(Not Norfolk) I was the best man at his wedding.

  Maybe someone here will recognize the other two guys??

• Me and my good buddy Jim Murphy onboard during the 1960 Med. cruise. Jim came to the CECIL from the Navy Tars football team. Don't know why I am smoking a cigar, must have been celebrating something.
